Well I hope I'm posting this in the right section. I have taken a month and a half worth of lessons and I'm finishing up suzuki 1 although I'm still cleaning up the last 2 etudes so they sound better. I'm still trying to work on my left hand tension having trouble getting the feeling of hanging or letting the weight of my arm press the strings. My teacher says I'm progressing very nicely and that makes me happy. I'm working hard and devoting as much time as I can. I am fortunate that my work/family schedule allows me time to practice. I can't put in 3 or 4 hours every day sometimes i can only get 1 or 2 hours but other days I can get in an entire day to just practice things alone. Overall I'm very happy to be learning cello and have completely fallen in love with the instrument. I have also learned more about what sound I like in a cello after playing around with different cello's and even though I have a good student instrument for now, I am saving up for my next instrument maybe at the end of the year or early next year. I am also looking foward to getting to the point where I can get away from playing tunes that sound so child like but hey I'm still crawling and trying to just get to my feet to learn to walk.

I have to remind myself not to post at 3:30 in the morning when I can't sleep. I had to go back and add a bunch of letters I left out LOL

Vladimir, your post could have been written for me! I, too am a new student. Just 90 days, but my teacher moved me up to an intermediate level a month ago. 3:30 a.m. is about the time I begin to practice each day. I share your passion for the cello! I practice at least 2 hours everyday. Somedays 3-4 a day. I just purchased an intermediate instrument with outstanding tonal woods, highly flamed, and a pernambuco bow. A new cello goes a long way in inspiring confidence, believe me. Best of luck to you! Sounds as though you'll be an excellent cellist!
