my daughter is in her second year of cello. (she is 11) they started teaching her using numbers....or fingering. She is having a hard time going from that to notes.....or site reading. Any advise on the best way for her to make this transition smoothly? I plan on putting her in private lessons this summer so she will be ready to audition for advanced orchestra in the fall.

Lessons as soon as possible are definitely the best bet.

I started out using fingering numbers as well. It was a slightly tricky transition, but I found that as I progressed I started using fewer and fewer numbers.
